I have a john deere 430 loader.I bought it 2 years ago.I was wondering if anyone has the problem on the quick plog in the rubber that cover the male plug in has gotten hard. They lost their flexable when you put them on which makes it harder to put on plus they might split.Does anyone know how to soften them up?
Any infor. would be appreciated
Warren
P.S. they aren't that costly but why buy then 2 years latter do it again. So i thought i would see if anyone has a cure for this problem.

Warren, it is a problem of rubber in contact with an oil product, made worse by weather exposure. Buy two new ones, but this time before you install them, completely immerse them in a protectant like Armour-All or similar (Top Gun, etc.) for 24-36 hrs. this will create a protective barrier between the oil and the rubber. You will need to reapply it every so often, but if you are already doing tires, etc., this is no problem. A word of warning here folks, DO NOT use any protective coating such as this on the steering whell, seat or rubber pedal covers (if so equipped), the very last thing you want is a slippery surface on any of these items, especially with cold weather (for some of us) coming on. Best of luck. ....

Good points Murf. Just yesterday, I noticed that the insulation on some my old stage speaker cords is cracking off. I never figured why stages seem to have oily dirt on them, but I doesn't take too long for the insulation to start cracking if the cords aren't cleaned regularly.
The used car dealer where I bought my '98 F150 'armouralled' the entire interior except for upholstery. It took several years before I could get in and out of the truck without feeling a need for grab-bars.
